Tony n' Tina's Wedding
Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding, the longest running comedy on or off-Broadway, and the second longest running show in off-Broadway history, is now in its 15th year in New York, running longer than more than half the Manhattan weddings that took place in 1988, when Anthony Nunzio first exchanged vows with Tina Vitale. (The only shows running longer in New York are The Fantasticks, Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera).
For those of you who are not among the millions that have seen Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding: the evening begins with the wedding ceremony at St. Luke’s Church (308 West 46th St), followed by a reception at Vinnie Black’s Coliseum (Edison Hotel, 221 West 46th St).
Produced by Joe and Dan Corcoran, Tony N’ Tina’s Wedding is the creation of the improvisational comedy troupe Artificial Intelligence. It is the grand-daddy of all interactive theater shows since Tony & Tina first got hitched back in February, 1988. Since then, there have been interactive bar mitzvahs, funerals, gangster rub-outs, and pretentious dinner parties which have all come and gone. Tony and Tina just keep doin’ the nuptial thing!
And, more than 100 tons of pasta has been consumed by the wedding guests and 60,000 bottles of champagne have been popped to toast the happy couple! And it just goes on and on… As it also does every week in 10 other cities around the country, including Chicago, San Francisco, Cleveland, and Toronto. Over the last 13 years, its played in over 100 cities and 12 countries around the world. It recently returned to Japan for its second tour.
